Location Info

  1. Batavia Isl. Island defined by branch of Waal R which in Roman times was located nr Cleve. N. border by crooked Old Rhine, S border by Waal R and then after its junction with the Maas, nr Workum and Gorkum (Gorinchem), the continuation of the two streams, known as the Merwede, from Dordrecht up to the Old Maas R, & then up to its mouth below Brielle. Some of the Batavians also lived S beyond Waal R.
